model 3. update
New model -
This time Shinya is on top, while Jiro is underground.
Shinya's space is divided into 2 parts, one is the dome room which is where he works and where he's tools are, while the little curved corner square room that sticks out is his storage space - where he can keep bikes he is not currently working on. The 2 rooms/ spaces are connected by the rooftop of the gallery space, i wanted it to be quite raw and exposed.
Jiro's space has a glass wall because i have decided to embed this building on a cliff face - so the glass walls takes advantage of the view.
Please comment on which building you recommend i continue working on (the previuse building is about 2 blogs before this one)- both are at about the same stage at the moment. otherwise, i think i prefer this one (as do most of my family) so i will continue to work on this one unless told otherwise :)
thank you

I think this model is more developed in terms of form as well as program. I think you have started to arrange the spaces in a more meaningful manner and that translates to a more favoured scheme to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteA way forward with this scheme is to first and foremost assess your choice of form. You currently have a dome and a circular plan, which are very strong elements. Think about what this is doing for you and if you really want to make that strong a statement. (Look at Federation Pavilion in Centennial Park and the Pantheon, do you your program is similar to theirs?)
Also look at the leftover spaces created on the 'rooftop gallery' after you have planned Shinya's workspace. Could they be designed so that do not look like 'leftovers'? Can they be designed so that they serve more than one purpose?
The shared gallery space is currently one big room with a giant view. It would be helpful to think about how the public may mingle and use that space, perhaps a few nooks where people can get away from the view if they want somewhere more quiet? Think about how Shinya and Jiro might like to display their work in the gallery.
Keep up the good work and good luck!
Also, don't forget that if your site is embedded in the face of a cliff, I want to see that in your images. Whether you photoshop it, or place it as a texture in Sketchup, or even hand draw it and then scan it in.
ReplyDeleteYes, i understand what you mean, il try maybe reducing the ceiling height of the circular room, if that dosnt work il make it a square shape instead. That room currently takes alot of the attention, and if its not primarily used for the general public then its a bit misleading.
ReplyDeleteYep, will do, maybe a rooftop garden? or maybe i can put a work area there aswell, il play around with it.
Yes, i havnt done much on the main Gallery Space yet, i will divide it for both artists to have their own space, and yes il have space away from the view aswell. Im thinking of reducing the ceiling height of the Gallery space too.
Il continue working, and il update on Tuesday Night.
Thank you :)
